PHILOSOPHICAL PLATFORM:
It has been known for decades that many disease states exist in a "hypoxic" environment...without oxygen (think SWAMP & Fermentation). Micro-organisms have an amazing adaptability capacity, and we suspect can become oxygen loving (aerobic & resistant or thriving on oxydation) when they started out being oxygen-hating (anaerobic & subject to destruction by oxydation). The key in bio-oxydative therapies is thus: AMOUNT, STRENGTH, LENGTH OF EXPSOURE, NUMBER OF EXPOSURES. IT IS THE SAME WITH ALL ANTIMICROBIAL THERAPIES, INCLUDINA ANTIBIOTICS. THAT'S WHY KNOWING WHAT PRIOR THERAPIES HAVE BEEN DONE AND AT WHAT STRENGTH AND FOR HOW LONG, IS IMPORTANT IN DEVELOPING THE INDIVIDUALIZED PROTOCOL.
IN CONTRAST, BALANCING THE EQUATION WITH RE-DUX ("ANTI-OXIDANT") THERAPY IS ALSO REQUIRED. TOO MUCH OF EITHER IS HARMFUL.

The Oxydative concept is many fold, but to distill it in understandable terms for most people, let me state:
1. To make the internal environment hostile to harmful microbes quickly by increasing fluid & tissue oxygen levels & pressures (intra & extracellular) to prevent resistance, change intracellular pH through ionization, etc. Unfortunately, gaining access to where the microbes replicate is the hard part at times (i.e. herpes resides in the nerve ganglion of the tailbone...therefore, i.v. therapies are only valuable for immunological building, not direct-hit. That requires hyperbaric oxygen to force 02 into the nerve tissues affected...). JUST BECAUSE A SUBSTANCE IS SHOWN TO ACHIEVE BENEFITS IN TERMS OF REDUCTION OR KILL, ETC. OUTSIDE THE BODY IN TEST TUBES, PLATES, ETC. DOESN'T MEAN IT WORKS THE SAME INSIDE THE BODY WHICH IS MUCH MORE COMPLICATED AND CAN COMPENSATE IN A MILLISECOND. WE KNOW WE CAN REDUCE VIRAL LOADS, ETC. BUT TO SAY YOU "CURE" A VIRAL INFECTION IS A MISNOMER. THE IMMUNE SYSTEM GETS THE UPPER HAND AND THE PATIENT IS IN REMISSION OR SYMPTOM FREE.

2. Facilitate the removal of harmful by-products oxydized & convert harmful substances to inhert substances for removal (use of immune modulators to speed up macrophages, increase number of circulating macrophages, and their ease of movement) Pure water is a key here for SLUDGE removal. The goal is to reduce the load on the immune and biochemical systems and restore homeostasis as much as possible. This also includes providing energy for the patient to deal with the emotional fallout of chronic illness in a more efficient manner.
3. Provide outside antioxidant support to off-set excess free radical damage IN A TIMELY MANNER (doing it too soon before or too soon after reduces or negates the desired oxydative effect we're after)
4. Boost & modulate immunological chemicals such as cytokines, lymphokines, etc. ( NK cells, Helper cells, Tumor Necrosis Factor-alpha, Interferons, Interlukins, etc.) to increase host resistance.

MAHT/UVBI PROCEDURE
THIS TREATMENT CONSISTS OF INSERTING AN I.V. LINE, PULLING OUT APPROX. 250-500 CC OF WHOLE HEPARINIZED BLOOD CONTROLLED VIA SPEICAL PUMP AT A SPECIFIC RATE, ON THE WAY INTO THE BOTTLE EXPOSING IT TO U.V. SPECTRUM LIGHT OF CERTAIN WAVELENGTHS WITHIN A SPECIAL U.V. CHAMBER VIA SPECIAL GLASS CUVETTES. ONCE THE RIGHT AMOUNT OF BLOOD IS IN THE BOTTLE, WE CLAMP OFF THE LINE, ADD 68-70 mcg/ml. MEDICAL OZONE GAS & MIXING GENTLY FOR 1-2 MIN. OR WHEN IT IS 'DONE" AND RETURNING IT BACK THROUGH THE U.V. CHAMBER AND INTO THE PATIENT. IT IS A STERILE PROCEDURE WITH CLOSED I.V. DISPOSABLE LINES AND BOTTLES. PROCEDURE TIME VARIES WITH CLOT FACTORS BUT USUALLY IS NO LONGER THAN 2 HOURS WITH THE SPECIAL POTENTIZATION DRIP GIVEN AFTERWARDS.
PATIENTS' NOTE: A HERXHEIMER REACTION IS A COMMON RESPONSE TO THE DEAD DEBRIS FROM KILLED CELLS...A LOW GRADE FEVER FOR A FEW DAYS IS NOTHING TO WORRY ABOUT BUT IS NORMAL. INCREASED WATER INTAKE AND EXERCIZE OR MASSAGE IS BENEFICIAL TO HELP FACILITATE REMOVAL.
KNOWN MECHANISMS OF ACTION:
Immuno-modulation from spin off of wbc's of interlukins, interferon, NK stimulation, etc.)
Direct oxydative burst of infected cells that are susceptible due to poor oxydative recovery enzymes and lipid & protein weak spots
Up-regulation of cell-mediated immunity
Detoxification of harmful substances (environmental toxins such as herbacides, pestacides, benzene, silicone reagents, hexane, formaldehyde, etc.)
Inhibits viral replication cycle by cross-linking the viral rna/dna proteins so it can't continue to replicate.
Alerts the immune system to "switch on" survellience more efficiently by upregulating specific endogenous cytokines like interferon lymphokines, TNF, NK, etc.

NO COOK BOOKS ALLOWED ! Each patient is a unique person with their own unique biochemical and emotional parameters. Treat the patient, not a disease ! If the patient has Cancer or Viral Syndromes, it is unethical to give just MAHT or other bio-oxydative treatment. We encourage an entire program to give the best possible outcomes. If the patient is under the care of another physician skilled in the use of these types of modalities, we will consider giving just bio-oxydative therapy and work with that physician also if needed in managing the case.
TREATMENT ADMIT REQUIREMENTS: (Not all these apply... depends on case parameters and physician's needs)
Pre-Admit Evaluation for program acceptance is required. New patients must schedule an appointment with Dr. Bormann, who heads the office in Calif., prior to coming to prevent undue time in Mexico waiting for test results. Diagnostics are individualized. See APPOINTMENT & FINANCIAL POLICIES.

MISCELLANEOUS INFORMATION
Patient must be accompanied if possible for treatments. Sometimes a driver is needed to take them back to their hotel rooms. (We're outpatient). No meals are provided, just snacks.
If the patient arrives by 10 a.m. daily, they're usually done and ready to go by 3. Some require more and need to stay later, but rarely past 5.
Patients wear loose cotton clothing with short sleeves so the nurse can access veins easily with the catheter. We usually insert a porta-cath to avoid trauma from daily needle sticks. We provide blankets if needed. Patients sit in Lazy-Boy type recliners during treatment and can feel free to snooze if desired.
Bring a steno pad or notebook to write a journal of how the patient is feeling and changes being experienced daily. It is helpful for stress relief to write out feelings.
Bring reading material or tapes / music to have something to do.
Absolutely No Smoking Allowed
No Sex of any form while under treatment program (oral, vaginal, rectal, digital)

NOTE: Health Department regulations require us to determine the presence of any infectious diseases...therefore, if viral or other patients are determined to be communicable, then we will isolate them from the rest of the clinic patient population.

Each person is unique. We don't practice Cookbook Consensus Medicine. Therefore, we can't know ahead of time what exactly will be needed or tolerated. In general, we don't offer Ozone or Oxidative Therapies as stand-alone therapy except for healthy people for Antiaging or Rejunevation, but part of an overall custom designed program for the patient. Costs will vary depending on what is indicated after an initial consultation and case review and then a scheduled exam by the physician.
