BACKGROUND
Originally founded in 1989 by Dr.Jeff Freeman and his wife, Dr.Sonia Rodriguez at the "Advanced Center of Integrative Medicine" to pioneer Medical Hyperthermia for the treatment of Prostate BPH and Cancer. Their vision was to provide quality "Non-Consensus / Non-Cookbook" Medicine to Americans and others wanting more than traditional Allopathic Medicine provides. They expanded to incorporate other therapies like Chelation, Ozone & BioOxidative Therapies, Metabolic Therapy, Immune Therapy, etc. and changed the name to reflect their primarily European Modalities in the early 1990s.

INSURANCE REIMBURSEMENT OF OUR SERVICES
Because we're a foreign clinic, US insurers can't pay us directly, so we CAN NOT accept insurance for payment, and neither can any foreign healthcare facility. However, many US insurers will reimburse the patient for health services rendered in other countries. We have access to an excellent Health Administrative company which specializes in helping Americans reimburse healthcare expenses from foreign clinic services. They generally take a % of the recovery, about 20% or so. We can give you their information. You can also check your healthcare insurance policy to see their policy on foreign reimbursements. We can provide a master bill to help in reimbursement. We require weekly prepayment of services to be rendered.

TRAVEL TIPS
REGISTR WITH THE U.S. COUNSELATE TO INSURE YOU HAVE RIGHTS IN MEXICO. OTHERWISE YOU HAVE NO RIGHTS OR LEGAL PROTECTIONS AT ALL. IT CAN BE DONE EASILY ON LINE AT: https://travelregistration.state.gov/ibrs/ui/

TRANSPORTATION OPTIONS:
San Diego Airport is 45 Minutes North of the Border.
We can arrange transportation from the San Diego Airport by sending a driver to either pick up the patient or lead you in your rental car, to your hotel or the clinic.
If you have any transportation trouble at all, call us and we'll arrange a ride.

Walking Into Mexico
Our office is located about 500 yards from the border gate. You can walk through the border, cross the street and walk into our building. You can park at the Last US Exit Parking Lot and Walk Into Mexico. Taxis are exhorbinantly expensive and we don't recommend them. The line getting back into the US can be time consuming and there is no place to sit.

Driving Into Mexico
You may drive into Mexico to our office. Call your auto insurer to add a "temporary insurance rider" to be sure you're covered in Mexico if you want.
Rental Cars can be driven in if the Rental Car Agency has rights in Mexico. You will be required to buy Mexican Insurance. Check with your Car Rental Company.
If you choose to drive to our office, let us know so we can notify security so they'll let you park. Driving back into the US can be very time intensive at times. You can avoid this by taking a shuttle with diamond lane privileges from your local hotel, like the Americana Inn. Most shuttle vans drop off at the clinic in the AM and pick up again in the PM if you notify them early enough. Most don't pick up later than 5 pm.

Shuttle Service: We contract a US Licensed Shuttle Van Service or we recommend using a Hotel which provides this service, WITH DIAMOND LANE PERMIT. This saves sitting for hours to get back into the US. Hotel Limosine or Shuttle Services from the Airport are available (sometimes for a fee)--check with your hotel.

CELLULAR PHONES & SERVICE:
Cell Phone Use: Call your Cellular Provider to tell them you're going to be in Tijuana and to "turn on" service. Mexico "owns" the air starting just about 1 mile north of the Border. There is a roaming fee usually. Check to find out how far in it will work. AT&T, Sprint & Verizon work best however service quality will vary with the type of phone used. Most hotels on the Mexican side use ATT as their provider and it is VERY EXPENSIVE to use hotel phone service, including access to WiFi for Internet, although as Internet Services grow, WiFi hot spots are more frequent and getting cheaper all the time. Check with your hotel.

NOTES ABOUT STAYING IN MEXICO:
Tipping is expected and is the same rate as the US and appreciated in Dollars.Check the exchange rate before coming and try to get Pesos to pay your meals and tips with if it's easier.
Resturants build 15% gratuity typically into the bill already. Do NOT tip if bad service.
Bring your own bottled water for drinking and only buy bottled drinks in restuarants or boiled water like coffee, etc.
Bring "flip flops" for showering, etc. just like precautions you would use in any Hotel
Electrical Devices may require an adapter for US Electronics. The Power is sometimes unstable. A UPS/Batty back up is recommended. WiFi is available usually in better quality hotels because they cater to US businessmen. Adapter Travel Kits are available at any WalMart or Radio Shack if needed also.

FOOD: For outpatient patients, we don't include the cost of food in treatment cost. We can however help you order food or you can certainly purchase your own on the US side at several good local markets and healthfood stores that you'd like to bring over. San Diego also has a HUGE selection of fantastic restuarants including Vegetarian, Indian, Thai, Russian, etc. The main healthfood stores often have hotel shuttle trips by the hotels to service patients needs for organic fresh food and juices, etc. Vegetarian menu options are easily available at most restuarants, however Organic Vegetarian Restuarants in Tijuana are very hard to find and many times the term "organic" is not really applicable.
We will do our best to help you accomodate special food needs but expect to find most of this type of food in the US. We do NOT subscribe to the theory that being Vegetarian is best. There is no "one-size-fits-all" diet that works
DO NOT EAT ANYTHING OFF A FRUIT OR TACO STANDS UNLESS IT IS BOTTLED. BRING STERILIZER GEL ALONG JUST TO BE SAFE.
