CYTO-SHIELD™ is a proprietary bioflavone / bioflavanoid herbal sublingual complex which takes advantage of the newest research on Luteolin, Apigenin and other bioflavanoids. Until now, products in the market place have been capsules or chewable lozenges with very limited absorption, requiring a lot of pills and multiple dosing. We have overcome this with a new sublingual delivery method to help insure biological activity levels being closer to 95%, allowing much lower doses to achieve better more consistent results. It also drops the price of manufacture since we don't need as much raw material.

WHAT IS LUTEOLIN AND APIGENIN ? (pronounced Loo-Tee-O-Lyn)
Luteolin and Apigenin are powerful naturally occurring flavones found inplants including peanut shells, parsley, artichoke leaves, celery, peppers, olive oil, rosemary, lemons, peppermint, sage, thyme, chrysthemum, and many other plants. We source ours from Chrysthemum from Europe. Apigenin is frequently found together in the same plants but not always.

Apigenin is a common flavanoid found in foods and plants and exhibits many effects. It has very strong anti-tumor development characteristics.(3) It prevents the pathological changes in various tissues and organs such as bones, prostate, breast, liver, eyes and central nervous system. Apigenin has significant effects on the endocrine functions of reproductive system in both female and male rats. It also exerts antimicrobial, antiviral, anti-allergic and antioxidative effects. It also had strong protective effect against radioactive / radiation damage and regulates the differentiation of cells. It is a potent antiproliferative, far superior to other known agents like Crysin (from Passion Flower) or Genestein (soy).

BIOCHEMISTRY / MECHANISMS OF ACTION
Research shows Luteolin and Apigenin are power anti-inflammatory, antioxidant and Superoxide Free Radical Scavengers. They have Anti-proliferative characteristics since in a suty, they inhibit proliferation of Lewis lung carcinoma cells in vivo. They are potent immune modulators with anti-inflammatory characteristics that inhibits the over-production and synthesis of TNF-a (tumor necrosis factor alpha), prostaglandins, leukotrienes, histamine, and interleukins, helping balance the response and preventing allergies, inflammatory reactions and over production of excess free radicals.

IMPORTANCE OF KNOWING WHAT TYPE OF IMMUNE PATHWAYS ARE DOMINANT & BALANCING THEM
There are 2 pathways which most autoimmune conditions are dominant in: TH-1 or TH-2.
TH1 is the pathway / side of the immune system that makes natural killer cells and can produce overactive cytotoxic-T cell Activity. TH-1 Cytokines include: IL-2 (interlukin); IL-12, Tumor necrosis factor alpha (TNFa), Interferon.

TH-2 Pathway produce B-Cell Antibodies which tags intruders so the cells can be identified and removed. Either side if dominant can produce illness. TH-1 dominance for instance is very prevalent in Hashimoto's Thyroiditis. TH-1 & TH-2 Cytokines when elevated or out of balance can block thyroid receptor sites, preventing thyroid hormone from getting into the cells, thus causing symptoms of low thyroid activity which effects the entire endocrine system. Balance of the two sides is the key. Stimulating the part which is NOT dominant is the way to achieve balance. This product modulates the immune response to help bring about balance.

ANTISPASMODIC & NEUROPROTECTIVE EFFECTS (Peripheral Neuropathy, Parkinson's, ALS, Alzheimers, etc.) Luteolin exhibits anti-spasmolytic effects. It significantly antagonized acetylcholine and histamine-induced contraction of smooth muscle in the guinea pig model of modified air overflow, and showed strong anti-histamine properties. Luteolin displays anti-leishmanial activity. Luteolin has strong anti-nociceptive (against pain originating from peripheral nerves) action in mice. This is in accordance with the fact that Luteolin is an active principle of Brazilian plant Wedelia paludosa, traditionally used against a wide variety of disorders including peripheral neuropathy and other painful conditions.
