TERMINOLOGY CLAIRIFICATIONS:
Glutathione peroxidase is an enzyme which neutralizes hydrogen peroxide, requiring tripeptide glutathione as a cofactor.
SuperOxide Dismutase is an enzyme which converts superoxide and protons as H+ to hydrogen peroxide and molecular oxygen
Catalase is an enzyme which converts hydrogen peroxide to water and oxygen
"Antioxidants" is a term which refers to a class of molecules which contain all of these enzymes or their precursors.
 
In the human body there are three "Super Antioxidants" known by the scientific/ medical community as: Glutathione, Super Oxide Dismutase(SOD), and Catalase. These three Super Antioxidants hold the secret to life itself. These are essential to life itself.
 
When younger, we naturally produce a great deal of our body's crucial antioxidants called Super Oxide Dismutase and Catalase, but as we age and depending on lifestyle habiits which we now know can increase our levels of these Free Radicals (Ionizing Radiation, Smoking, Smog, etc.), our bodies can be severely unprotected from destructive ravages of super powerful free radicals called Super Oxides and Reactive Oxygen Species (ROS).
